The Institute of Holistic Medicine was founded by Carroll Baker. Mr. Baker has been practicing Holistic Medicine for over thirty years. He is currently the only practitioner of Holistic Medicine recognized/reimbursed by insurance companies. Mr. Baker also works integratively with numerous M.D.'s in the Louisiana and Arkansas region. The institute of Holistic Medicine was created to fill the overwhelming demand by insurers/employers and M.D's as the patient population expands. People are seeking integrative approaches but the standards of practice are questionable. The Institute is offering education in Holistic Medicine that will elevate the standards and practices of qualified health care professionals.
The institute of Holistic Medicine offers only one degree: Doctor of Holistic Medicine. This education is available to anyone with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in allied health or a four-year degree accompanied by continued education with medical criteria (to be approved by the I.H.M). This is a 2 ½ year program with concentration in mobilization techniques, homeopathy, herbology, acupuncture, acupressure, massage, eastern psyche (i.e., guided imagery), focused thought, visualization, nutrition, vitamin therapy, exercise management as well as teaching on how to fit into western medical societies and practices. Administrative and marketing programs are also taught.
Last year Holistic Medicine generated over thirty billion dollars and is expected by many to approach the one hundred billion dollar range over the next three to five years. There is no other such teaching facility in the U.S.
All classes are being taught or supervised by licensed medical doctors or Ph.D's . Quality of education is paramount at I.H.M
